Street Fighter Alpha
Street Fighter IV
Fire Punch: can be performed in one of these ways:
F, D, DF, P DF, DF, P DF, D, DF, P (really easy while sitting)
The combo system in Street Fighter is really advanced and poorly documented.
In Goukens combo challenge, there is a combo:
- Heavy Kick (HK)
- Forbidden Shoryuken (QCF, QCF, P)
I checked an online replay, and the Heavy Kick is performed at close range and is cancelled immediately, which must be done in an insanely short time frame. This caused me to rethink how the SF4 combo system works.
I succeeded in doing the combo, by parallelizing the moves in my head:
QCF QCF P HK ----------> time
This could be written as QCF, HK, QCF, P
This analysis may not be entirely correct, but here goes:
- When you input buttons and directions, they are added to a queue.
- Input is discarded after some period of time.
- For each new input, the queue is inspected, and if the input corresponds to a move, the corresponding input is removed from the queue, and the move is executed.
